The Pros and Cons of using your second home as a vacation rental:
If you are new to owning a second home, you are probably wondering whether or not renting
it out as a vacation rental makes sense to you in your situation and the plans you have
for your home. We would like to offer a list of pros and cons that might help a little in making
that decision and if it is right for you.

Pros:

  • Provides income to help offset your expenses, i.e. property tax and or HOA fees,
           allowing you to you use it without a full time tenant?
  • ?Income from a vacation rental can be as much or more than income from a full time rental
  • ?Our eyes are on it regularly and we keep you apprised of maintenance issues that may come up
    so they can be taken care of in a timely manner
     
  • ?The property is cleaned regularly
     
  • ?Less wear and tear than a full time rental with a permanent tenant

Cons:?
  • The homeowner pays for utilities, yard maintenance and snow removal
     
  • Vacation rental income is seasonal, more in the summer high season months 
            and less in the winter low season months???

the property owner, and the paying guest who rents your home. Property management is 
our business, not a side business  we give our full attention to managing homes for the 
absentee homeowner.

I have lived in Sisters since 1977 and raised 4 children here. I know the area intimately,
and the rental market well.
